1876 Twenty cents PR CAM Values

Details

The 1876 Proof Twenty Cent Piece is one of the two proof type coins (the other being from 1875) from the 4 total issues. It is relatively common yet slightly harder to come by than its counterpart due to its mintage of 1,260. This date is decently scarce from the AU range all the way through MS66. The value escalates at a gradual pace through MS67 and at the finest known grade of PR68 (3 total), which are rare. The auction record is from a Heritage auction in 2007, in which one of those 3 PR68's sold for $54,625. As cameo and deep cameo pieces go there is an expected, yet subtle, premium. The survival estimate for the date is 700 although just 189 have a Cameo designation from PCGS and NGC and only 13 exist in Deep Cameo. Deep Cameos are very rare across all Twenty Cent dates.

Obverse: Lady Liberty is seated on a rock, holding a staff, and bearing a shield with the word LIBERTY on a flowing ribbon. 13 stars have adorn the periphery and the date appears at the bottom center.

Reverse: An eagle is prominently featured with the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * TWENTY CENTS around the periphery.
