Obverse: Liberty seated at the seashore, holding an olive branch in her right hand, her left resting on a globe marked LIBERTY in relief. Behind her are two flags and a wheat sheaf. A ship is in the distance. Below the base is IN GOD WE TRUST in a cartouche, below which is the date 1876.

Reverse: The regular die of the Type II design, used 1875 to 1885, without the berry below the eagle’s claw.
