1884-CC One Dollar MS Values

Details

This is one of the most common Carson City Morgan dollars, with all CC-mint Morgans enjoying an enthusiast base all their own. Thus, premiums are strong even on the relatively common examples such as this one. These are widely available through a grade of about MS66 and become much scarcer at higher levels. A tiny number survive above MS67, with a few in the MS68 range -- a threshold at which serious bidders seemingly stop at almost nothing to claim their prize. PLs are scarce and DMPLs are somewhat scarcer, with those grading higher than MS65 very challenging but available for a price.

Obverse: Portrait of Liberty centered. On the left are found 7 stars with the words E*PLURIBUS*UNUM followed by 6 stars on the right. The date is positioned at the bottom.

Reverse: The heraldic eagle is centered holding a bunch of arrows and branch surrounded by and olive leaves. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears above the letters DO of DOLLAR.
