1850 Moffat & Co. 5 Dollar Gold MS K-7 Values

Details

In 1850, Moffat & Company apparently only struck half eagles; consequently, there are at least four minor positional varieties of 1850-dated $5s. The issue is readily available in grades up to AU, and although uncirculated specimens are scarce, they are not unheard of. A handful of examples have graded choice and gem mint state.

Obverse: Liberty Head with MOFFAT & Co on diadem 1850 thirteen stars around.

Reverse: Federal Eagle S.M.V. CALIFORNIA GOLD FIVE DOL.
